We provide turnkey management of sponsored veterinary clinical studies to pharmaceutical and medical device development teams worldwide.

We partner with state-of-the-art veterinary specialty and referral hospitals throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond to enroll patients on sponsored clinical studies.

We manage sponsored clinical trials that abide by Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards for veterinary studies and are designed to ensure the collection of high-quality data.

We submit all CASTR-run studies for ethical review by an external Veterinary Clinical Studies Committee (VCSC) to prioritize the safety and well-being of all patients.

Linking Patients to Caregivers

Our sponsored studies link companion animals in need of innovative solutions to novel therapeutic or diagnostic options that may otherwise be unavailable to them.

Studying Spontaneous Diseases

Our research focuses on spontaneous diseases – those that arise naturally in dogs and cats. By enrolling companion animals who are already afflicted or symptomatic, we aim to provide potential direct benefits to our pets while gathering data that could help human or animal patients in the future.

When a pet is enrolled in a CASTR-managed clinical trial, they take part in helping advance medical discovery and innovation.

What to expect

Contracting companies

can expect all CASTR Alliance-run studies to be managed efficiently and ethically, adhere to GCP standards, and result in high quality data. We deliver progress updates upon request throughout the trial, conduct diligent site and safety monitoring, and provide data at interim analysis, and at the conclusion of the trial.

Veterinary clinicians

and support staff participating in the study are trained from the onset on the trial protocol to ensure treatment is conducted according to our rigorous standards. We continue to provide guidance and support to our participating sites throughout the entire course of the study.

Pet owners

who enroll their pets in these clinical studies engage directly with a participating veterinary center, where all study procedures are carried out in accordance with the established study protocol. Studies are typically supported such that treatment is partially or fully covered by the sponsor.

WHO WE ARE

CASTR Alliance was founded in 2019 by veterinary clinician-scientists Jessica Bertout and Jim Perry. As scientists, they bring extensive experience in designing, managing, and conducting clinical trials that meet the rigorous standards of the biotech industry. Moreover, as devoted pet owners and veterinarians, they are personally committed to delivering the highest quality care for our animal companions. Together, Drs. Bertout and Perry created CASTR Alliance to leverage their expertise and advance medicine for humans and animals alike.
